Monday March 18th River Stour at White Mill
© Bob Ford/Nature Portfolio
After a very cold and wet weekend we were treated to a lovely calm afternoon to walk along the River Stour from White Mill to Sturminster Marshall.
The river was in full flood but the fields were surprisingly dry and full of birds including at least 4 buzzards, 2 kestrels and a good sized flock of lapwings.
The most unexpected sighting was the group of 3 Mediterranean gulls that appeared overhead calling loudly.
Crossing one of the streams I noticed a particularly handsome lichen growing on the hand-rail.
As I know pretty much nothing about lichens I've uploaded the photo onto iSpot to see if anyone can tell me which lichen it is.

These are the videos I took during the afternoon. The last one is the otter I saw here last September.
